Can I compete on two teams or just one?
You are only eligible to compete on one team during IFYR.

What are the age requirements to compete at IFYR?
You must have completed your freshman/9th grade year and cannot have turned 19 on or before Aug. 1 of the current school year.
What if I graduated early and am taking college classes already? Am I still eligible? I still meet age requirements.
No, you are not eligible once you are enrolled and taking college classes. Regardless of age requirements, once you graduate high school and move on to college, you become ineligible.
Do I have to have a partner to enter up in team roping?
Yes, you are required to enter with a partner.
Is camping or stalling refundable after entering IFYR online?
No, it is not refundable unless you are drawing out with the proper documents. (medical or vet issues)
Can I stall my horse off grounds?
Yes, please review the off grounds stalling list for contacts you may reach out to and make arrangements for off grounds stalling.
How many runs do I get at IFYR?
The IFYR consists of two long go’s and the possibility of making it back to the short go– the short go includes the top 15 contestants from each event.
When will the draw be posted?
The draw will be posted Sunday afternoon after the mandatory meeting at 1 p.m. The second long go draw is the same as the first long go draw, but in reverse order.
Is the mandatory meeting really mandatory?
Yes, it is mandatory. You must attend this meeting.
What is a team?
A team is a group of individuals that are rodeoing together as a “team” to accumulate team points. They are still competing as individuals; however the team is acquiring points from individual wins.
Can you compete on a team in one event and still enter up in other events?
Yes, you can. For example: you can barrel race on a team and pole bend and goat tie as an individual.
When will the rodeo secretaries be open/available?
The secretaries will not be open 24 hours a day from Friday – Sunday at noon. Instead, the hours have been changed to Friday, 8 a.m.-11 p.m., Saturday, 8 a.m-11 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m.-noon.
What time is check in?
All contestants and horses must be checked in by noon on Sunday, July 7 – no exceptions! If you are not fully checked in you will not rodeo at IFYR 2019.
Can we enter one event multiple times– on different horses?
No, you can only enter one time in each event. For example: you can’t barrel race three times on three different horses, nor can you team rope multiple times with different partners or switch from header to heeler and enter up again.
Can I have someone haze for me?
Yes, as long as they are in full western dress and purchase a ticket to the performance.
Is there a helpers pass?
No, there is not a helpers pass.

Can I compete if I don’t send in a copy of my birth certificate and a signed medical release notarized (with parents signature)?
No, you will not be eligible if all paperwork is not submitted before the IFYR.
What about the horse registration papers?
Please bring these forms those with you, do not mail them in. If you lose them, reprint them off of the website or you can fill one out in the stalling office.
Do I have to have an IPRA card?
No, you do not have to be a card holder. You can purchase an IPRA permit to compete at the IFYR for $45, or you can purchase a full card for $125– make sure you fill out the form and send it in to Oklahoma City, not Shawnee. The IPRA permit will be here with your back number when you arrive on grounds.
Is all team roping dally?
Yes.
Is alcohol allowed on grounds?
No, this is a youth event and we enforce a strict no alcohol policy– alcohol on grounds will result in removal of back number and an escort off grounds. (See the "Welcome to the IFYR Information" letter.)
Are bicycles allowed? Can we rent golf carts there?
No and no, bicycles are not permitted and we only allow our volunteers and staff to use golf carts while on grounds.
Do I have to wear my back number at all times?
Yes, as a contestant you must wear your back number at all times on or off grounds- while here in Shawnee you are representing the IFYR, be proud and conduct yourself in such a manner.
Are dogs / horses allowed in the RV areas?
Yes, but we have a leash law that is enforced. No dogs are allowed in the tradeshow area or in the grandstands. Horses are not allowed in the RV park at all.
Can I stall a goat with my horse at IFYR?
Yes, you can.
Can we run our generator / or dry camp?
No and No, we do not allow dry camping and generators are too noisy during IFYR since we are camping in close quarters.
What are the rules for vetting out at IFYR?
You can only vet out of barrels and poles at IFYR– refer to the IPRA guideline rule book for more information.
Is there a dance?
There is a dance on the grounds Monday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the south end of the Otto Krause Arena. Contestants get in free with their back number and are allowed one guest for $5.
How do I apply to be a youth director?
Please print the youth director application, fill it out and submit it to the IFYR office ahead of time or bring it into the office in the tradeshow building upon arrival to IFYR 2019.
Will hay, shavings and ice sold on grounds?
Yes, they will be available on grounds.
