2019 Youth Directors Driven by Leadership and Preserving Rodeo Heritage

(SHAWNEE, Okla.) - The 2019 International Finals Youth Rodeo Directors were chosen during the 2018 IFYR and have been working all year to prepare for this year's rodeo. Throughout the year Youth Directors serve as student representatives in this leadership role. They assist in recruiting future contestants, serve as spokespersons for the IFYR and its sponsor and more.

The 2019 Youth Directors are: Aly Ghormley of Madisonville, Texas; Anna Kate Norton from Tallassee, Alabama; Cole Bailey of Marshall, Texas; Kassie Adams of Meriden, Kansas; Gracie Henderson of Aurora, Texas and Laura Beth Biggers of Niangua, Missouri.

Aly Ghormley
Madisonville, Texas

Aly Ghormley will compete in cowgirls barrel racing, cowgirls breakaway roping, cowgirls goat tying and cowgirls pole bending at IFYR 2019.

She is a recent graduate from Madisonville High School and is the daughter of Mike and Pam Ghormley.

Anna Kate Norton
Tallassee, Alabama

Anna Kate Norton will compete in cowgirls barrel racing and cowgirls breakaway roping at IFYR 2019.

She is a recent graduate from Wetumpka High School and is the daughter of Phillip and Debra Norton.

Cole Bailey
Marshall, Texas

He is a recent graduate from Elysian Fields High School and is the son of Gary and Marti Bailey.

Kassie Adams
Meriden, Kansas

Kassie Adams will compete in cowgirls barrel racing, cowgirls breakaway roping and cowgirls goat tying.

She recently graduated from Jefferson West High and is the son of Brian and Stacie Adams.

Gracie Henderson
Aurora, Texas

Gracie Henderson will compete in cowgirls breakaway roping and cowgirls goat tying at IFYR 2019.

She will be a senior in the fall at Decatur High School and is the daughter of Brandon and Lauri Henderson.

Laura Beth Biggers
Niangua, Missouri

Laura Beth Biggers will compete in cowgirls barrel racing and cowgirls breakaway roping at IFYR 2019.

She is a recent graduate from Niangua High School and is the daughter of Steve and Lynette Biggers.

During rodeo week, Directors act as the liaison between contestants and rodeo judges. They are responsible for hearing protests and requests from fellow contestants and relaying that information to IFYR judges and staff, all while being a contestant first and foremost. Youth Directors also participate in the grand entry of all performances and carry flags.

Each year, International Finals Youth Rodeo contestants submit their applications to be selected for the IFYR Youth Director program for the following year;s rodeo. These distinguished representatives are chosen cased on their outstanding qualifications and commitment to leadership. 

The International Finals Youth Rodeo, held annually since 1993, is a 501 (c)3 non-profit
organization that presents top high school athletes with a professional rodeo. The internationally-recognized IFYR is held annually at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma. The action-packed event includes hundreds of contestants vying to win more than $250,000 in prize money, competing in 10 events running simultaneously in three arenas over six days.
